Personal Investing Strategy

The aim of my investing strategy is to produce consistent returns employing a varied of investment instruments. Currently my goals are to hold fixed income investments and value stocks in order to generate wealth in the long term, while also finding investments to buy and sell over the short term for capital appreciation. As I started my investing journey during heavy market turmoil I was able to understand how important it is for to find ways to hedge against market downturns, and employing these strategies to my portfolio.

Introduction

In this section you will find an introduction to my investment journey as well as more information about my current portfolio.

In Spring 2022, I took my first steps into the world of investing by purchasing low-risk assets and building a diversified portfolio to mitigate risk. Despite my limited initial knowledge, I was eager to expand my understanding. I dedicated time to reading books, following reputable financial sources, and analysing the news to grasp the market dynamics.

Throughout my journey, I encountered extraordinary events that shaped my trading strategy. These included navigating the impact of high inflation globally and rising interest rates, monitoring the possibility of a recession in the US and Europe, tracking the US Debt Ceiling debate with its potential effects on debt default, and observing the market response to geopolitical tensions. Each event presented a valuable learning opportunity, allowing me to adapt and refine my approach for future investments.

By closely observing the market's reactions during these pivotal events, such as the Federal Reserve's high-interest rate hike, I gained practical insights into the relationship between global events and the stock market. This ongoing learning process has fueled my passion for investing and has prepared me to make more informed decisions as I continue my journey.

Asset Classes

It is important to invest in various asset classes, investing in a single asset class could expose the investor to high amounts of risk. Depending on the Investor's strategy and goals they should decide where to allocate their capital, with my available capital I would like to keep between 40%-50% in cash, 30%-40% invested in Equities, 10%-20% invested in Bonds and 0%-5% investing in commodities or alternative investments. I regularly analyse my portfolio in order to make sure that it does not become unblanaced.

Profits

Since embarking on my investment journey, I have consistently achieved profitability on all of my trades. With a focus on prominent companies like Nvidia, Apple, and Tesla, I have generated a net profit of 33%. These successful investments have not only provided capital appreciation but have also allowed me to diversify my income through fixed income assets.

Stock Diversification

To minimize risks and promote diversification, my portfolio is strategically allocated across multiple companies from various sectors. This approach ensures that my investments are not overly reliant on any single company or industry, enhancing the stability and potential for long-term growth. Investors should also find a balance, placing too much emphasis on diversification could have the opposite effect and negatively impact the investor's portoflio

Split Of invested capital.png

Split of Invested Capital

By allocating around 70% of my portfolio to equities and roughly 25% to bonds and 5% to alternatives, I have created a customized benchmark to assess the performance of my overall portfolio. This split aligns with my investment strategy, which aims for capital appreciation while maintaining some safety and security through bond investments.

Future Aspects

This section provides a short description of what I would like to integrate in my future investments and strategy.

This section will be amended as my strategy changes over time and the future aspects change with it.

As my strategy has proven profitable I don't plan on changing it anytime soon, however, as more capital becomes available and I acquire more knowledge I would like to increase my risk tolerance while trying to  increase profits at the same time.

Additionally, I plan to explore new financial instruments and incorporating them into my portfolio. Unless there is a major change in the market sentiment I believe that my current strategy is still profitable. The main aim is to grasp an understanding of alternatives and how they could benefit my portfolio. I also plan on doing quarterly and yearly portfolio review checks in order to make sure that my investments still match my strategy and if there was a change in either I would need to adapt accordingly.

Another major thing that I plan on changing in my portfolio is finding more short-term volatile stocks that could be invested in order to generate short-term capital appreciation, this is something I am currently doing but I have not allocated enough time or capital as I would have wanted.
